Roselle began to be settled in 1830 when the Meacham Brothers settled into the area. In 1860, a local businessman opened the Illinois Linen Company at what is now the corner of Roselle Road and Irving Park Road. The same local businessman was the president of the Chicago and Pacific Railroad Company and convinced authorities that a train line should be built through Roselle and Wood Dale. The Village of Roselle was named after the name given to the train line.
