Norridge Criminal Law Information Center

Norridge is a Village in Northern Illinois that has a population of almost 15,000 people. Norridge is located next to the City of Chicago. As a matter of fact, the entire Village of Norridge is surrounded by Chicago in all directions. Norridge, and the Village to the east of Norridge, Harwood Heights, are commonly referred to as the “Island Within a City” because they are completely surrounded by the City of Chicago.

The name “Norridge” was suggested by a resident who combined the name of Norwood Park Township, and Ridge, from Park Ridge, a neighboring Village. Norridge was originally known as “Goat Village”, because of a local Goat Farm, and “Swamp” due to the swamp-like conditions and the lack of paved streets. The City of Chicago tried to annex Norridge as part of Chicago for several years. In 1948 The Village was about to be annexed by Chicago when a local homeowners association started the process of Incorporating Norwich as a Village. This eventually led to the incorporation of Norridge as a Village and ended Chicago’s efforts to annex Norridge and make it part of Chicago.

The 1950s were an important decade for Norridge. During the 1950’s Norridge experienced tremendous growth and development. A waterworks system and sanitary sewers were constructed to deal with the “Swamp” conditions in Norridge. Streets, sidewalks, and curbs were built which drew residents and businesses into the community. During the 1950s Norridge was transformed into a modern and vibrant Village right next to the City of Chicago.

Norridge is the home of the Harlem Irving Plaza, one of the most well-known shopping malls in the Chicago Metropolitan Area. The Harlem Irving Plaza was built in 1955 when it only had 45 stores. By 1990 it had 140 stores. Harlem Irving Plaza draws shoppers from all over the Chicago Metropolitan Area and is a great source of revenue to the local community. It is also the source of crime related to Shoplifting. In addition to Harlem Irving Plaza, the area surrounding Harlem and Irving Plaza contains many stores and retail establishments. The crime resulting from the shopping establishments leads to many Retail Theft cases.

I got into an argument with my ex-boyfriend. One thing led to another and when he came close to me I pushed him away. He called the police and when I spoke to the police I told them that I pushed him without realizing that you don't have to hit someone to be charged with a Domestic Battery. Being...

Had a DUI and hired a lawyer who lived in my building that I knew for years and trusted. Thought he was my friend. Paid him (more than I should have) and he handled my case for almost a year and totally screwed it up. I fired him and found out that he had given up his law license around the time I...
