Experienced Criminal Defense Lawyer for Streamwood Residents and Streamwood Criminal Cases

The Village of Streamwood is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and is considered part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Streamwood is located entirely within Cook County. Cook County has a population of approximately 5.3 million people, making it the second most populous county in the United States. Streamwood has a population of approximately 40,000 people. Streamwood makes up the “Tri-Village” area, along with Bartlett and Hanover Park.

The area that is currently known as Streamwood was originally known as Hoosier Grove. Hoosier Grove was known as home to Dairy Farmers from the 1830’s through the 1950’s. Streamwood was incorporated as a Village on February 9th 1957. After World War II and the Korean War, war veterans began building homes and establishing numerous instant subdivisions in the area. The residential building boom in Streamwood was largely a result of the GI Bill which provided the money to the veterans that allowed them to buy the new homes. Roughly 11 million new homes throughout the country were financed by the GI Bill. The GI Bill led to a construction boom throughout the country which contributed to the growth in Streamwood.

L&H Builders brought 21 pre-assembled homes that were shipped from Indiana to the corner of Bartlett and Schaumburg Roads. The pre-assembled homes were assembled by a local builder in less than two weeks. After the homes were assembled, the community had enough homes and residents for L&H builders to incorporate Streamwood as a municipality. The first Village Board of Streamwood consisted entirely of employees of the local builder that had assembled the pre-assembled homes.

By the 1970s, a housing surge allowed Streamwood to grow in size over five square miles. Its population surged to over 18,000 people. Shopping centers where developed along Bartlett Road and Irving Park Road. Streamwood High School opened on Schaumburg Road and the Library and the Park District opened up new facilities. By the 1980s Lake Michigan water was brought to Streamwood and the Village experienced great growth.

Currently, Streamwood is home to over 40,000 residents. Streamwood is one of the fastest growing communities in the Chicago Metropolitan Area and is recognized as being one of the most progressive communities in the area.
